Alex Ostrovsky

Executive Director for Smart Fans at Modern Forms
He/His/Him · Carmel, Indiana, United States

Alex Ostrovsky is a business executive, product strategist, and sales leader with extensive experience in consumer goods and electrical manufacturing. He currently serves as Executive Director of Business and Product Development for Smart Fans at Modern Forms, where he is responsible for shaping strategy and guiding execution in a technically advanced, design-driven smart home category. His entry into consumer goods was intentional. Early in his professional development, Alex recognized that the foundations of legal training, including preparation, negotiation, persuasion, and accountability, could be applied directly to commercial leadership. He has consistently viewed sales as a structured system that aligns customer expectations, operational realities, and long-term brand value rather than as a simple exchange. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University. During law school, he served as President of the Criminal Law Association and competed on the trial team at a national competition in Chicago. Alexander Ostrovsky is licensed as an attorney in Indiana and later became a managing real estate broker. These roles strengthened his understanding of regulatory environments, risk management, and complex negotiations. Instead of continuing in traditional legal practice, he chose to move closer to strategic business decisions. He built a significant part of his commercial career at Fanimation Ceiling Fans, advancing from National Account Manager to National Sales Manager. He managed major national accounts, including Ferguson Enterprises, and directed e-commerce strategy across Amazon, Wayfair, Build.com, and specialty lighting retailers. His responsibilities included overseeing product lifecycles, pricing strategies, inventory planning, and competitive analysis. Alexander Ostrovsky of Indiana also introduced the company’s first national buying program, creating a clearer, more measurable framework for account growth. For a little over 8 years at Modern Forms, he progressed from National Sales Manager – Smart Fans to Director of Sales & Product Management. In March 2025, he was promoted to Executive Director of Business and Product Development. He works with executive leadership to define ceiling fan strategy across the WAC Group portfolio, leading sales planning, customer management, and connected-fan product development from concept to launch. He evaluates technologies, collaborates with suppliers, manages tooling budgets, and balances pricing and inventory decisions. Through steady leadership and disciplined execution, Alex Ostrovsky continues to influence the smart ceiling fan market.
