Jeff Carter was once the President of the National Coalition for Literacy, and was the 2017-18 President of the Committee for Education Funding—the only adult education person to ever serve in that role. He was also briefly (mercifully brief) the Executive Director of the National Adult Education Professional Development Consortium (NAEPDC) and the National Council of State Directors of Adult Education (NCSDAE). Before that he was the Director of Adult Education Initiatives at Digital Promise, and also once served as the Director of Policy and Government Affairs at ProLiteracy.
