Sylvester Brown, Jr. is an award-winning journalist and former metro columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Prior this position, Sylvester and his wife, Victoria, published Take Five Magazine, an investigative publication, for 15 years. After leaving the Post-Dispatch in 2009, Sylvester worked as a researcher and contributor at SmileyBooks. He served on the research and editing team with author and former advertising executive, Tom Burrell on his book Brainwashed: Challenging the Myth of Black Inferiority. In January 2011, Sylvester established When we Dream Together, a nonprofit aimed at stemming poverty and revitalizing long-ignored urban areas. Sylvester has been a guest on the “O’Reilly Factor,” “Al Franken Show,” “The Tavis Smiley Show” and “The Michael Eric Dyson” radio programs. In 2005 ABC’s “Nightline” reported on his forum featuring Dr. Bill Cosby.
